As you can see, the Ram 1500 can save you over $3,000 when you purchase the base trim. The Ram also gives you plenty of areas to upgrade, including in the engine compartment. If you’d like a solid blend of performance and fuel economy, a diesel engine might be for you. The Ram 1500’s available 3.0L V6 diesel engine delivers a massive 240 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque, enough for reviewer Edmunds to write that “…the engine’s ample torque makes a diesel-powered Ram 1500 feel pretty swift around town.” Unfortunately, the Tundra doesn’t give you the option to switch to a diesel engine. If you’d prefer the exciting horsepower of a gas engine, both models offer an upgraded V8, but one is more powerful than the other:
